What is Tooth Sensitivity?
Sensitivity is the short, sharp pain experienced when eating or drinking something cold, hot, sweet, sour or spicy. This is because of exposed dentine – the inner core of the tooth surrounding the nerve. This can lead to other problems if not treated.

What Causes Sensitive Teeth?
Dentinal hypersensitivity or tooth sensitivity is a common dental problem. It’s a condition that can develop over time, as a result of common problems such as receding gums and enamel wear. Most sufferers are between 20 and 50 years old. Tooth sensitivity can start to happen when the softer, inner part of the tooth called ‘dentine’ becomes exposed. Dentine lies under the enamel and the gums.

Thousands of microscopic channels run through the dentine towards the centre of the tooth. Once the dentine is exposed, external triggers (such as a cold drink) can stimulate the nerves inside the tooth, resulting in the characteristic short, sharp sensation of tooth sensitivity.

Why is Sensodyne Right for me?
Sensodyne is specifically formulated to form a shield of 24×7 protection against sensitivity and provide relief with twice daily brushing. Sensodyne is less abrasive than most ordinary toothpastes, hence is ideal for sensitive teeth. It contains fluoride that strengthens teeth and prevents decay. It leaves your mouth feeling fresh and clean.

How does it Work?
Sensodyne’s active ingredient penetrates deep into the tooth to soothe the nerves and protect the exposed dentine. Used twice daily, Sensodyne builds up effective protection against sensitivity.

Directions:

1. Apply at least a 1-inch strip of product onto a soft bristle toothbrush.

2. Brush teeth thoroughly for at least 1 minute twice a day (morning and evening) and not more than 3 times a day or as recommended by a dentist or doctor. Make sure to brush all sensitive areas of the teeth. Minimize swallowing. Spit out after brushing.

3. Children under 12 years of age: Consult a dentist or doctor.
