The seaplane that will connect Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad to Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Narmada landed into Kochi from Male, Maldives. The seaplane will reach Gujarat on Monday and will be inaugurated on October 31st by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to mark the 146th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.

The Sea Plane in Ahmedabad is a Twin Otter 300 registered in the name M/s Spicejet Technic, which will be operated by SpiceJet. A 19-seater seaplane which will be used for flights between the Sabarmati riverfront and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Statue of Unity in Gujarat as a part of regional connectivity scheme between Sabarmati riverfront and Statue of Unity.

The 19-seater seaplane will be able to accommodate 12 passengers at the cost of Rs 4,800 per person. The aerial distance between Ahmedabad and Kevadia is around 200 kilometres. The seaplane will take about 45 minutes to cover the distance.

The seaplane service will connect Kevadia and Ahmedabad. In Kevadia, the terminal will sprawl over 0.51 acres of the Panchmuli Lake of the Sardar Sarovar Dam at Limdi village. It is approximately 90km from Vadodara, 150km from Surat and 200km from Ahmedabad. The terminal building will have two check-in counters, modern amenities, a ticketing counter and more.

he plane will be operated by SpiceJet, with four round-trips, i.e. eight flights between Ahmedabad and Kevadia. The 19-seater plane will accommodate 14 passengers at a time.

The seaplane will cut travel time significantly. It takes about four hours to travel from Ahmedabad to Kevadia by road. By seaplane, one can reach in just an hour.

The aircraft are flying in all the way from the Maldives. The service will be operated by the pilots and crew of Maldivian Aero, the country’s national airline, though SpiceJet will sell the tickets.

Each ticket is expected to cost from Rs 1500 to Rs. 5000
