Lok Sabha Passes Amended Lokpal Bill

Wow. This is a real breaking news and surprisingly it is good. Today, 18 Dec 2013; the Lok Sabha today passed the Lokpal and Lokayukta Bill, 2011, which provides for formation of an anti-graft ombudsman. The bill was passed with the amendments adopted by the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, 18 Dec 2013. Taking part in the discussion, leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said that this session would become historical if the Lokpal Bill was passed. Sushma Swaraj said that Rajya Sabha has done what the Lok Sabha could not do.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi urged all parties to pass the amended Lokpal and Lokayukta Bill in the Lok Sabha. Rahul Gandhi also urged the Lok Sabha Speaker to extend the session of Parliament so that other important bills could be passed.

SP leader Mulayam Singh said that BJP and Congress are trying to prove that only they are honest and everyone else is dishonest.
